First 90

What should the first 90 days of leadership look like, in one of the worlds largest and most high-profile banks?

Task

Commercial Banking (CMB) experienced a surge of new leaders emerging within the organisation, alongside new employees joining through external hiring campaigns. This highlighted the need for consistent, proactive management, with dedicated support to help them navigate their first 90 days in the role.

We were gifted full creative control over the
concept and visual design. We were tasked
with creating a working and deployable
solution within 30 days.

A mix of self-driven, experiential and designated content had not been as prominent at this level previously.

This product was created by us, but would long-term be run by the internal CMB team. This had to be sustainable and results-driven.

After reviewing other
internal offerings, we
decided on a micro-
cohort-driven approach.

Small, supportive groups would challenge and motivate each other as they embarked on their journey together.

As the program progressed, we brought in alumni from the First90 program to share authentic stories and real-world experiences.

At the core of the program, was an internal microsite, designed within HSBC’s brand guidelines – with a more modern touch. Both in-person and virtual catch-ups were incorporated into the schedule and touch-points of the site, allowing cohorts to connect not just within their local region, but across the business. This provided a more comprehensive and holistic perspective on management and leadership within their function.

A globally recognised brand, with an internal secondary palette was used.

Standard websafe fonts and externally sourced photography was implemented, to avoid a clash with commercial branding.

HSBC University brand and launch.

Let’s see if we’re a good product
design fit for each other.
